The death of a family member due to the negligence, or wrongful conduct of another is called a wrongful death claim. Wrongful death claims, provide the survivors of the deceased with compensation for losses such as funeral expenses, medical expense, loss of income, and loss of future earnings, pain and suffering, loss of companionship, and possibility of punitive damages. Potential survivors include the deceased spouse, children, parents, adoptive siblings.
Wrongful death claims have only a 2 year Statute Of Limitations. This means a lawsuit must be filed within 2 years of the date of death, or the claim is forever barred. Call me at 813-281-8801, or email me at anthony@bgpalaw.com for a free consultation.
